On April 29, 2021, and May 2, 2021, The University of Pittsburgh’s School of Computing and Information held its ceremonies commencing graduation for undergraduates and graduate students. We are proud to recognize some members of the graduating class!

Brandon He

Brandon He graduated with his Bachelors of Science in Computer Science. His plans after Pitt include moving to Seattle and start work as a SWE at Microsoft. He’s looking forward to growing as a developer and also as a person once things go “back to normal.” Some of the things he will miss at Pitt are being with friends all the time and the good food in Pittsburgh. He enjoyed having a small community within CS, even though Pitt is a large school.

Rohit Ganguly

Rohit Ganguly graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science. After graduation, he will be working as an Engineering Product Manager at C.H. Robinson. What he will miss from his undergraduate years are the friends he made in the CSC, late nights in Hillman, nights watching sports with friends, and Cathy.

Erin O’Rourke

Erin O’Rourke graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science. After graduation, she plans to spend a year in the Episcopal Service Corps serving at a nonprofit and living in an intentional community somewhere in the United States! As she leaves Pitt, what she will miss the most are all the people she met through WiCS, CSC, and peer tutoring.

Praneeth Sangani

Praneeth Sangani graduated with his Bachelors of Science in Computer Science. He will miss the people he met over the last four years. After graduation, he will be working full-time at Amazon as a software engineer in San Francisco.

Justin Kramer

Justin Kramer graduated with his Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science in Computer Science! After graduation, he will be working full-time as a software engineer at SoftWriters. What he will miss from his time at Pitt is its environment and seeing interesting people all the time by walking down the street.

Andrea Michael

Andrea Michael graduated with a Bachelors of Sciences in Computer Science and Information Science. After graduation, she will be moving to Seattle and working as a Project Manager at Microsoft. Andrea will also be looking into adopting a cat and writing some blog posts about her undergrad CS experience. She will miss the communities she had! Being in college and working her way through switching majors and trying to succeed in CS would have been so daunting and overwhelming if it wasn’t for the people (both in clubs and outside of them). The abundance of support that came from everyone, both from helping through struggles and celebrating victories, was comforting and will be extremely hard to replace once out of college.

Alex Bailey

Alex Bailey graduated with his Bachelors of Science. After leaving Pitt, he will be working for Capital One. Eventually, Alex would like to have his own startup related to CS in music, finance, or game design. He will miss CSC the most after leaving Pitt. Specifically, working with old and new members to create lasting programs for CS students like mentoring, recruiting, and participating in hackathons.

Katelyn Morrison

Katelyn Morrison graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and a Sustainability certificate. After graduation, she will be interning at Microsoft Research — New York City as an undergraduate research intern with David Rothschild for the summer. In the fall, she will be going to Carnegie Mellon University to attend their Human-Computer Interaction Ph.D. program! Her focus in her Ph.D. program is on novel computational methods that incorporate fairness and foster positive human-AI collaborations in decision-making systems. She will miss the amazing group of students in SCI, the professors, and the SCI club events. Even though she was only on Pitt’s campus for a little over a year due to transferring and the pandemic, she has so many fond memories and made so many great friends!

Kenan Rustamov

Kenan Rustamov graduated with his Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and minor in Chemistry. What he will miss most from Pitt is the people. They helped him push himself to strive for more and as a result, allowed him to help others achieve more for themselves. He credits CSC for helping him work harder in school and work. His post-graduation plans are to work as a software engineer at BNY Mellon. Afterward, he hopes to go to medical school to either become a medical doctor or start a med-tech business.

The Pitt CSC team would like to congratulate all of the new graduates and wish you the best as you start your new chapter in life! We will miss you all! :)
